Great Lightweight Harness
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've been using this harness for almost two seasons of climbing now and I really dig it. Lightweight, unobtrusive, and utilitarian. Perfect for shaving some bulk down when trad climbing. The hanging belays are not the most comfortable but they aren't especially uncomfortable either. While leading the harness becomes pretty much invisible and allows for total freedom of movement. Great harness overall.

Might be good for some; not me.

I bought this as a replacement for my Arcteryx 395A as I had read some online comments suggesting it was very similar (and the 395a has been out of stock everywhere for a long time). This harness does not really compare well with the 395A in its fundamental design. While it looks a tad similar, the waist band is more narrow and does not replicate the weight distribution properties of the Arcteryx technology at all. It’s not the same and felt immediately uncomfortable while hanging similar to a traditional webbing based harness. Also the belay loop is ridiculously long (and thin). It’s likely 50% longer than the 395a look and for sure 50% thinner. The length causes the waist band to tend to ride up easier. I understand the loop is using ultra high strength fibers but it’s thin feel is just not reassuring and will be particularly concerning one it sees some wear and tear. I just don’t think that’s where I (or my partners) want to see weight saved. For me, I had to return this harness. It just is not a competitor for the 395A at all.
