Why We Like The HOKA Kaha 2 GTX Hiking Boot
HOKA once again blends an alpine-worthy performance with plush cushioning in the Kaha 2 GTX Hiking Boot. We appreciate the maximum comfort this boot provides when we're trekking miles through the alpine, and how GORE-TEX gives us reliable waterproofing against passing showers and puddles. Plus, Vibram's MegaGrip rubber has the grip we can count on whether we're scrambling rocky boulders or tackling the steepest parts of the trail.

I liked the first pair so much that I ordered a second
Possibly the most comfortable hiking shoes that I have ever owned. I highly recommend them.

I am not entirely happy with this purchase
I haven't put much mileage on my hiking boots but that is because the arch support is uncomfortably high for me, even though I have normal arches. I may have to return them soon.

The first pair of Hoka's I've second guessed the purchase
I've been happy with every other Hoka I've purchased, which is several, but I'm wondering about this one. I got it for hiking, and took it out walking to get some break in. While they felt good initially, there is a seam on the left shoe upper that irritates my ankle severely. By the time I went 3 miles I could barely walk. I tried to wear it again the next day but it was too painful from residual rubbing that I came back after a couple of hundred yards. It looks nice. I want to like the shoe but we'll see how it goes. I waited a week and wore it around the house without too much difficulty, but I'm very concerned with any longer walking/hiking for now. I was a little disappointed I couldn't use it on my 3 days of hiking around Capitol Reef. The other surprise was that the tongue was short enough that top lace just barely hits it and sometimes it will move above the tongue. I've seen this on cheaper shoes before but not on Hoka's. This just seems like reducing quality to save a centimeter of fabric, which is concerning given it is the most expensive pair I have ever purchased.

So far so good
I've only had the shoes 2 weeks, but wore them in a non-hiking excursion for several hours as a break-in. The shoes feel great, and I don't believe they needed a break-in period, as they were comfy from the time I first laced them up and that didn't change over 3 days, 3 airports, and some construction site walking.

Slightly Disappointed
I thought that getting these boots from Hoka would be an expensive but safe bet when choosing my next tactical boot. However, despite the appearance of being very comfortable (given the obvious large amount of sole), my feet get sore in simply just a couple hours. The fit is true to size, but I am disappointed for how expensive they are for the lack of comfort compared to several other boots I have had. I am 5'11 and 187lbs. It seems like it is made to appear as if it is a cushioned boot without actually providing any support.

Returned
My husband loved his last pair of Kahas so I reordered. This pair had been changed so much. The sole around the heel is really wide and the fit was different so we returned. Trying a pair of Kalaharis (sp?)

Hiking rough terrain
My photography hobby keeps me outdoors and frequently on rough hillsides and mountain trails. I need the extra ankle support and camera stability that the Hoke high-tops give me every time.

Love the shoes
The only complaint I have is that one on the tongues is shorter and it keeps falling low.
