Almost
Almost was a winner. Stock insole is terrible. Couldn't find an aftermarket insole that was comfortable in this boot. Toe space quickly disappeared with an aftermarket insole as well. Boot itself seems great. Quality construction and features. Sad this boot didn't work out. It would be nice if returns were accepted.

Phenomenal Hiking Boots
Just bought my third pair! (I ignore reviews when someone says I just got this, used it once, think it's great, and look forward to the future.) But since I literally have three pairs of this exact same boot purchased over 6 years I decided to review em. These are fabulous boots. I live in Colorado and am lucky enough to hike at least once a week on a local trail and every Sunday morning on a mountain trail. This is the minimum, as I get to go backpacking and hunting a half dozen times a year and train harder for those trips - year round. I've done this for ten years. I have no idea the miles I've put on my 1st two pair of Salewa boots, but the first were bought a few months before July of 2018 when I hiked from the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park at Wild Basin over the Continental Divide at the Boulder Grand Pass and to the west side, exiting at the East Inlet Trailhead. Epic hike and epic test of a pair of boots! The 1st pair were pretty new then and they were exceptional. No blisters, only one hot spot that moleskin dealt with, but that was after 14 hours on the trail, a half dozen bouts of rain, and 3,900 feet of elevation change. Since then I've hike all over CO and the west in my first two pairs. The sole on my 1st pair is nearly smooth, but I was keeping them as spares until today. The second pair are on my feet right now while I'm at work and they are also pretty slick on the heals. (I wear them every day.) And the new pair is in my closet sporting their huge new tread that I will break in starting tomorrow and before the snow melts up high in early July. These are beautiful boots. They are comfortable and tough and I will buy another pair in another three years if they are still making them. So yeah, as you can probably tell by now, I think they warrant this long history of documented use so you will know I'm serious and these boots warrant a five-star review! Thanks Salewa, I don't know who you guys are, but you make a great pair of boots!

Salewa Mtn Trainer 2
I’ve used several types of boots and decided to this try this pair. I will be using these for backpacking and early season hunting. They’re light weight and comfortable while still providing support for steep and rough terrain.

Too stiff and heavy
Hi, I got this boot but it happens to be much more stiff than I expected. I want something lighter for a one day hikes, would you recommend me Mountain trainer lite, Alp trainer or Alp mate mid? Thanks

Ordering these boots again! I have worn them for many miles over the years. These are the boots you want if you are putting in miles under heavy pack load outs and they really excel in rough, rocky, terrain and mountains. They keep you dry and comfortable. I’ve been comfortable in these boots everywhere from the Appalachian mountains of Virginia and Western NC to the mountains out west, in Canada and the SW USA deserts.

I wanted a pair of hiking the mountains that offered good ankle support. These fit the bill. They are si comfortable out of the box. I did go up a 1/2 and they fit perfectly. They are light weight and the color is great. Perfect traction!! Would buy again!
