Like A Waterproof Sack W/Small Hood

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
Small
Height:
5' 8"
Weight:
117

raincoats are always hard, the fabrics that are waterproof don't tend to drape well at all and this is no exception, i.e., it's a stadium style fit to start so you know it's not going to be fitted (not fitted even with the ability to synch the back to pull it in at waist a bit) but this is really a sack. I got it in the small which was just good enough for my arms length (if it had ben a little longer in sleeve that would have been better) and shoulder span (if it had been a 1/4in more narrow) but rest of me needed an XS, (for reference: I'm a small in SAM, Columbia Sports, and Barbour a 4 - 6). I still would have kept it just for the waterproof aspect but when I closed it up the hood didn't cover top 20% of my top of my head, then I was like well if I wear it open and hood down but that totally wasn't why I bought it, i.e, I need waterproof raincoat for riding bike in NYC when I can't carry an umbrella to cover my hair, so I returned a few hours after I got it. Also, the FedEx process was bizarrely bad for FedEx, they (and therefore also BackCountry) still have it in their system that I haven't received this parka! trying to track down package over last few days when the site showed I would be receiving FedEx changed tracking number, after nearly an hour on hold and phone calls with India and Mexico I was told: package is being delivered today (told that for 2 days) AND package hasn't left facility in Brooklyn AND that each of the 2 nights they said I would be receiving they told me FedEx would be delivering by midnight and that I needed to be available to receive it! meanwhile It had been handed off to US Postal Service, BackCountry put name of bldg I was in as my last name, doormen found it and still backcountry and Fedex say I haven't received it and it will now be delivered today (I've already sent it back to them and they say I haven't received it) ...

For the springtime downpours

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For those spring days in New England when it just pours while the wind turns your umbrella inside out. The length and hood are why I purchased this coat.

Staying dry in record amounts of rain

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Rainiest spring on record here in Wisconsin and I AM DRY!! This parka keeps me warm and super dry. I love the length and the way the hood actually fits and doesn't pull back on my head. It's a game changer! Thank you North Face!

In love with this Black Currant Purple !

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So stylish and pretty! I struggle to find good waterproof wear to beat the Seattle rain that isn't totally dull or ugly. But the purple color pops out against the grey weather and the coat is fitted, yet spacious enough for layering.

Love the coat!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This coat is thin enough to be a top layer on cold rainy days when you want layers underneath. Great length if you want more coverage.

Perfect coat for dressy or casual

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Everything I hoped for in a raincoat. It's raining now and will be the perfect coat to wear to a concert tonight. Can be worn as dressy or casual. The length will keep my slacks dry.
