Why We Like The Altra Lone Peak 8 Trail Running Shoe
Where others turn back, we stride on, and Altra's Lone Peak 8 Trail Running Shoe keeps us moving easy along the overgrown singletrack. The revamped upper features ripstop mesh fabric that doesn't get hung up on thorny brush and sandstone scrambles yet still lets our feet breathe underneath. As the miles tick by, the perfectly balanced foam underfoot softens frozen earth and rocky ridgelines and keeps the pep in our transitions long after our second wind has worn off.

change in fit is disappointing
I have worn Altra running shoes for many years and love them. I wear a custom insole. My problem is the heel depth feels more shallow now, and my heel no longer fits fully into the shoe. Why?

awesome upgrades
I wore the first years of Altra and had to stop because they suddenly became huge at the heal like for cankles etc. I couldnt keep my heals in them anymore. Im so happy you put a heal cup in these and made the ankle adjustable for smaller or bigger ankles. This version really locks down the instep. Im looking forward to doing steep mountains. Also love the ripstock nylon. It should dry faster in wet brush. Lastly what a fantastic roomy toe box without making the whole shoe gross and wide. No tennis balls or newspapers in these shoes to stretch the toebox. I have been trail running for 30 yrs. My feet are not warped by bad footwear and Im not chunky so my ankles are small, my heals are small, my instep med and muscular and I have a wide toe box from wearing good shoes and running my buns off. Thank you Altra!!!! Age 48 159Lbs Female

These shoes are amazing!
These are the first pair of wide width shoes that actually fit like a wide width should. The perfect amount of room in the toe box, flexible tongue that doesn't compress too tightly on a higher instep and the amount of cushion in the sole is just right. Only two small pieces of feedback.. the laces are the "slippery" kind that don't always stay tied unless you double knot and there are very limited colors in the wide width styles. Even with that said, I will buy again and again!

Lone Peaks have rapidly declined...
Have the Lone Peak 5 and ran it to dust. This outsole is much more narrow (I need a wide trailer runner!), material is stiff, and the color choices for us wide babes are TERRIBLE, EVERY TIME.

Bring back old Altras!
Shoe was uncomfortable all the way around. My feet hurt from wearing them which has never been a problem before. I've worn Lone Peaks for years. These were not wide enough even though I ordered a Wide shoe. The sole was very unforgiving, not flexible and absorbing as in the past. And your color selection sucks especially since Wide is usually available in only one or two colors. Overall, very sad to see the changes in your shoes go downhill. I will not be buying from Altra again.

Lone Peak's are my everything.
I have run in Altra Lone Peak's for almost 15 years now. They are my one and only for short and ultra long runs/hikes and adventure races.

Consistently comfortable
Due to nerve damage on one foot, for some reason, Lone Peak are the only shoes I can wear at the present. While they change each year, it seerms, the fit is basically the same. Roomy toe box, supportive, comfortable. I wear them all the time, every day, so yeah, they wear out quicker than most. Seems to be the case for all Altra shoes, that's why I did four star review. Wish they lasted longer., and I wish they would offer an all-black selection, because I wear them with everything. Please bring back all black Lone Peaks!!!!!

I would not buy this shoe again
I was disappointed in my recent purchase of lone peak 8. I immediately noticed the difference in comfort. They are very stiff and actually made my feet hurt after wearing them a couple of days. I know I wont be able to return them now, and unfortunately, I'll have to wait before I can buy a different pair of sneakers.

Wide shoes that are foot shaped
Why aren't all shoes foot shaped? I have been using lone peaks as my daily shoe for years and they are the best. The wide width is essential for my flintstone feet and neuromas. I like the new feature on the 8s and wonder why Altra is offering fewer styles in wide? Also, the color selection is meh...

Color is not as expected
I wear the shoes to stand all day at my job and they are very comfortable. My only complaint is the color was not as expected.
