Great outdoor pant

The fabric is heavy duty and perfect for exploring. My husband loves them. I get a size bigger for him because he likes a baggier fit.

I would love these pants, except that the snap is terrible, my pant open up all day long, in fact they just opened up as I sat to write this review. I would return if I could but I wore them for a few days. The fit is a little off from what I use to be. The Free Rydr 32 fits like old Rydr Lean 31.

I should have read the reviews before purchasing. As stated in some of the other reviews, the snap is ridiculous. It wont even stay snapped with a belt on! The wrinkling is also crazy, even after a number of washings, the fabric won't lose the wrinkles. I'll wear them in my shop but not out, as originally planned. I will give a plus to the feel of durability! Perhaps after a lot more washings the fabric will soften and start to the wrinkles like a fine pair of jeans.

These could have been great

Kuhl had a great product going, then completely ruined it by not using a traditional pants button. Instead, these pants have some snap button contraption that comes undone even with a belt on. I got a size larger than normal and, although I originally blamed my winter weight for the issue, the button will easily come undone even when not wearing the pants and simply pulling on the waistline. When pull the waistline apart with any tension, the snap button comes undone. Why could just a normal button be used? Don't waste your money

He LOVES this pant. He never wears shorts so in the Arizona heat these pants are perfect and ventilated. He is a plumber/repairman and they are perfect for work and hiking. The pockets are perfect for a cell phone on the side pocket. I literally just bought is 4th pair. I have to say they look great on him too!

Almost Great

These pants are almost great. Here's the breakdown and I hope KUHL is reading: Pros: Style, Fit, and Quality Construction. I feel like they will wear well for many years. Cons: I ordered two pairs of these pants (in different waist sizes) and they were different colors but marked both as "Dark Khaki". One version was lighter brown with contrast tan stitching and looked like the photo. The other version was darker brown with matching stitching. I don't know what say about that, I can't reliably know which one is correct or which version I would get the next time. Con #2: The fabric is soft on the outside but very itchy and rough on the inside. I steam-washed the pants several times and I'm sure they will be great long-term, but hard to love in their first month. Con #3: The snap closure is idiotic and constantly comes undone. This happened even on the pants I ordered that were too big in the waist. For the pants that fit me correctly I can't keep the snap snapped. Who makes snaps anyway? I'm a skinny guy, it's not that the pants are too small. I will either sew my own button on (if I love the pants enough after a month) or I will return them. For me, this is a disqualifying design flaw.

Weird sizing
- Familiarity:

- 31x34

- Weight:
- 160
Compared to other Kuhl pants, these run about a size or size-and-a-half small in all dimensions. Since the fabric has zero give (which is great in terms of durability), and because the fly has that super nice snap, if you don't end up with the right waist size the snap tends to pop open. I'm 6'1" and 160 lbs, not a big dude. I went with a 31x34, which is a size up for me to begin with. Way too small in the waist, and about 2" short on the inseam and oddly very tight in the leg. This is a new sensation to me, as I'm literally an ambulatory bean pole.

Just OK, Very weird fabric and fit

These are OK but fit, fabric and details are unnecessarily weird. Sizing is accurate. They don?t shrink much. Out of the dryer the lower legs fit very, very tight to legs, like hipster skinny jeans. Mainly because the fabric develops these stiff creases in all directions that make the pants kinda grab the leg like those Chinese finger-trap devices. It gets better as you wear them around all day but some of the creases kind of become permanent in the stiff fabric. I have no idea how many hours they had to attack them with an iron to get them to look normal in the pictures. Also you?d better have a pretty good butt and hips to keep them up as they are cut just kinda straight down from the waist. And there is no way of wearing them without a good belt because there is no waist closure button just a very odd snap thing, kind of a metal grommet wit a little dot on the other side. It doesn?t keep the pants closed at all. Fabric is durable and they are pretty warm and sewn well. Seems like they just kind of over thought a pair Carhartts or went for a better fitting Filson Waxed fabric but missed the mark. I?ll keep them but likely will not buy any more.
