Why We Like The Ducan High GTX Hiking Boot
Whether we're packed for a multi-day excursion or we prefer the added support for a technical hike, the Ducan High GTX Hiking Boot gets us to the peak with plenty of energy to spare. An engineered mesh upper is both durable and breathable, and GORE-TEX keeps dry with its waterproof, breathable membrane when a stream of snow melt blocks the hiking path. A Vibram Flextron sole was specially engineered to give you traction on loose or slippery surfaces without being too rigid, while a Steel-Spring sole prevents foot deflection and provides vertical support on rock scrambles.

Very Satisfied
Taken these around 500 miles with about 100 of those being high alpine with snow. The seam seals are still in tact however goretex membrane started to fail around 300 miles. If you’re looking for a middle ground between a hiker and full mountain boot, this is a good bet. These are stiff, the vibram rubber is hard, but that shouldn’t come as a surprise. I highly suggest to break these in hard before heavy use and you’ll be just fine. Highly recommend!

Great boots. Daily use
Use these daily at work. Both hot weather and in the snow. Great traction, very waterproof. Fit is a bit snug but break in nicely. Comfortable for 12hr shifts.

High quality, narrow toe box
Everything about the build is high quality. Wrap top vs tongue seals snugly around your leg. Insoles, like most footware are cheap and need to be upgraded. Be aware they fit snug overall with a very narrow toe box. I am an off the shelf US sie 12 medium width in every shoe/boot I have ever bought. Not in these boots. My toes are cramped in them regardless of sock thickness and I've got multiple blisters form a 4mi hike.

Almost perfect
The support, weight, and grip of these boots is superb. Durability has been excellent. The waterproofing wasn't great especially in snow, but gaiters did help. The fit was excellent except for the elf toe. The toe box is really narrow and pointy and really doesn't have room for your smaller digits. Weird design, maybe if you had a narrow foot it would work better, but long consecutive days in these boots was painful for me.

Very durable
Great boot that is durable and keeps a good tread after multiple uses on cold & hot days.

Below freezing these boots, paired with the right socks are pretty good for work and decent hiking. They do keep the slush and water out, however they do hold onto some moisture. The soles don't grip very well in snow or ice for hiking. I'd imagine with some microspikes they'd make for some decent hiking. For public safety work, they rock. Good footing with sturdy support. Decent find!

Great lightweight but sturdy boot
I bought these last season for September archery elk season. I needed a solid boot for scrambling around off trail, one that was waterproof, and one that was light enough for hiking all day without feeling like I was lugging around concrete blocks on my feet. Overall I've been super pleased. They were comfortable right out of the box and took very little breaking in. The burrito style tongue was interesting and took some getting used to for dialing in the laces and fit, but once I did they were comfortable all day. I had buddies complaining about blisters at the end of the day, and I never had one. These are great boots for backpacking, hiking, and do well for a lightweight hunting boot.

Comfortable, light
This boot is light and comfortable. Gives good support. Some light trail hiking and just wearing in general around town. I wasn't sure about the unusual tongue, but it works great.

Extremely comfortable and lightweight. Feels like nothing is there but it handles the roughest terrain at the same time. Waterproofing is also great.

Stay Away From The Sand
Out of the box, this was my favorite, most comfortable pair of hiking boots. I thought I had found the ONE. In the last 2 years I've bought over 15 pairs of hiking boots from multiple boot brands, most from Expertvoice. I do A LOT of hiking, most not on trails and in all kinds of terrain. I live in southern Utah and the majority of my hiking involves sand. This is where my love for my new MAMMUT Duncan High GTX ended. The very fine sand filters through the outer shell and gets hard packed in between the shell and the GTX inner layer which caused my toes to blister. I had to take my pocket knife and make cuts in the inner GTX layer around the toe box to get the sand to empty out. I still wear these boots but only if I know I'll be going into and area with not much sand. The boots are comfortable, durable and have great traction/grip and I would recommend these boots to those who wont be using in the sand.
